I have a Panasonic recorder with My Freeview Plus and we sometimes experience momentary picture dropout. The sound continues just the picture disappears for a couple of seconds.
We are in the New Plymouth area, has anyone else had this issue or know of a fix?
Cheers

Hi John
I, too, have a Panasonic recorder with Freeview Plis and experience the exact same problem. The frequency is rsndom, some days worse than others. I don't have a fix but would like to know whether you've found a solution?
Thanks
Maggie
Hi Maggie
Thank you for your reply, this now makes me think it's not a Freeview issue and maybe a Panasonic machine problem.
I will make contact with Panasonic and see what their response is.
If I hear back from them I'll let you know if a fix is available.
As you say the frequency is completely random so possibly a hard one to solve :-(
Cheers
John

Hi John,

Please do let us know on this issue from Panasonic, sometimes it can come from your UHF aerial too from loss of some signal between your house and the transmitter.

Regards
Josh

Hi Maggie please see Panasonic's reply below.

Please let me ask you to try the following and then reply if the issues stops :-

Press 'FUNCTION MENU'
Select 'BASIC SETTINGS'
Select 'DIGITAL TV TUNING'
Select 'FREEVIEW PLUS'
Change from 'ON' to 'OFF'

I have sent a reply to them saying I'm not entirely happy with their reply as we would lose the On Demand function of Freeview+ which we use all the time.
Will keep you updated with their response.

Cheers

Hi Josh:
Thank you for your reply, I don't think it's signal related, I'm in sight of the translator from our house and we get a full signal.
Will keep you informed of my outcome.

Cheers
John

HI John

Thanks for investigating this annoying issue.  I changed the settings and will contact you again in a week, It's unfortunate that the random occurrence makes it difficult to monitor.  And, as you've pointed out to Panasonic, the On-demand function is something that is used frequently and is a main reason for purchasing this model.

I look forward to any developments and will be in touch soon.

Maggie

Hi Maggie how is your trial going?
I have had the Freeview+ function turned off for five days without any picture dropout, so I turned the function back on and dropout has reappeared.
I have also captured it doing it on video do about to email my findings to Panasonic.
Will let you know their response.

Hi John

I have had Freeview+ turned off for the week - no dropouts. I intend to turn it on tonight as I've missed a couple of programmes this week and will leave it on to see what happens. I have changed my email address (and changed it on freeviewforum settings yesterday). I am not sure how this will affect discussions that are already ongoing.  Anyway, it's magster0000@gmail.com, if we need to take it off the forum to continue.  I will look forward to hearing further.

Thanks for all hour efforts.  Maggie

Hi Maggie:
I have had a reply from Panasonic as shown below, they have now sent it to their technical manager.
Will post the reply when they make contact, hopefully we can get this sorted. We where the same missed the use of the on demand feature so turned it back on.

Thank you for the information and video clip – Very much appreciated -

I will forward this on to our Technical Manager who would generally deal with the factory and will come back to you when we have information from them.
Hi John
I have recorded a programme which had dropouts and then replayed it - the dropouts were not there. I have managed to capture a couple on a short video. Who are you talking to at Panasonic. Do you think at this stage there would be any benefit in my contacting them too?
Hi Maggie.
I will email you all my communications with Panasonic so you can add your experience o the same inquiry.
That's interesting that while watching the program you experienced dropouts but it didn't show up on the recording.
That definitely pinpoints that it's a machine issue and not Freeview signal problems.

My last email from Panasonic was forward to the technical manager, but not had any reply from then on.
I'll email them back as well to ensure they don't just ignore us.

Will keep in touch, I think if both of us keep on their backs they are more likely to get it sorted.
Cheers
John
