I need the brains trust for this one.

Bought two Satmax Iclass 9696 sat boxes from Turners just recently.

Now we all know the company has folded with no support-Right?

Both boxes continually drop all the nz channels but the Aussie ch9 is always stable.

Which raises the question it appears these boxes may be era 2012 and may require firmware upgrade. Where does one locate these files?

check the lnb voltage from the boxes

A bit harsh saying "folded with no support" the owner died.

Anyway is it the PVR model?

if so check this out then

http://www.satdl.com/product/302/iCLASS-9696X-PVR/

done that- no difference

I also bought one of these but when I plug it all in I kept being asked to insert a smartcard. All the stations are tuned in but none will display. Any ideas how I fix this? Considering a factory reset, but I'm wondering if there's an easier answer, or even whether that'll fix the problem.

Go ahead with the factory reset you won't break anything

Thanks, resetting didn't help but I worked it out. It was just the LNB freqagency that needed changing.

Unfortunately none of the software updates on those sites work for my box. After I click 'ok' for it to update the software from the USB stick I get the error message 'invalid model number'. I've tried them all. My model number is SCF3A243 - the closest update I can find is for SCF3D240 from here http://www.iclasscenter.com/en/53-Softwares-HD_9696PVR_XviD.

I realise it's a long shot, but if anyone else has sussed this out, I'd be really happy to hear how.

Thanks,

I think you will need to email them and ask?

Oh, I'll try then. I got the impression from the first few posts that the company had gone out of business, so didn't bother. You think they might still be going?

Satmax was only the importer they don't make the unit.

So try the website

Will do, I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for help & suggestions so far.
