I have had the Freeview streaming app for ages on my Samsung Q60BA 55TV. Now when the app loads but it's like it's taking to the old On Demand site, which is long gone!! Not the streaming site.

I have tried to reload the app, same issue. Even deleted the app and re-loaded it, the same issue.

Is anyone else having issues?

I emailed Samsung again last Friday and this is their reply:

"As what discussed before we tried to escalated this to our Tier 2 support team but since its a 3rd party application issue on tv, the access for this application depends on its Developer.

We haven't received any update yet from the developer to when this will be accessible or if this will still be available on Samsung tv."

So, Samsung is saying it is down to Freeview to fix their app's problem with Samsung TVs (mine is a 2018 model).

I have just tried the TV's Freeview Streaming App and this is what I have observed.

Once I launch the App, I have to use the separate UP & DOWN arrow keys that are above & below the square centre button to navigate through the channels. The channel up/down rocker button does nothing. Some channels stream without any problems. Others will show the channel logo but do nothing else, no video or audio. These are the channels that do not work: TV3, Bravo, Te Reo, Eden, Rush, Prime, Al-Jazeera, Shine. Both RNZ National & RNZ Concert have audio but no video. I believe that is normal for RNZ Concert but I expected RNZ National to show the same video news clips that its Terrestrial transmission does.

I will draw Freeview’s attention to this thread and this post.

Anyone still having problems with the Freeview Streaming TV App please say so here.

HI Trevor,

An update was released last week which resolved the issues we had with the Samsung 2018 TV's. This is why there no more "Coming Soon" message on screen.

With regards to your issues with the channel navigation, this is intended and not a fault. We are looking at adding the channel rocker in future, however, I cannot advise when or if this will occur at this stage.

With regards to your issues around the channels not streaming, we are not experiencing any of these problems on our units here. Can you please advise what ISP you are using (2 Degrees, Spark etc)?

Thanks

Jake

Fabulous!!!

First; thank you for persisting for those of us suffering from this.
Second; the app is now working as intended woooooooooo!!

Hi Jake,

I am with Slingshot for the past 16 years.

The issue is now resolved by powering off/on the Slingshot-supplied Netgear Orbi AX1800 WiFi 6 Dual-band Mesh Router (RBR350). All Streaming channels now stream, via Wi-Fi as well.

Even though the router was the problem, I decided to do a factory reset of the TV as it is 5 years old and resetting will give it a 'refresh'.

I have two questions:

1. When I did the reset on my TV and then launched the Streaming App for the first time and got to the 'welcome' message, it showed the channels that are on the Streaming App. One of those shown is Ch 200 (Juice TV), but it is not being streamed. I watch that channel via the antenna connected to my 2015 Samsung JS9000 TV in my lounge. Will Ch 200 return to the Streaming App?

2. When I watch RNZ National (Ch 50) on my lounge TV, there is Text shown as well as audio. The text is news snippets that change every 10 odd seconds. There is no Text shown on the Streaming RNZ National (Ch 50). Why is that? Will the Text be implemented at some time in the future as my household goes to Ch 50 at 5 pm Mon-Fri to get a very informative hour of news, in a different format from say, TVOne News.

Thank you for your assistance, it is appreciated.

Trevor
