This just in from the transmission provider for Nelson:

A new fire has developed at Walters Bluff just 1km from the Kaka Hill Digital TV transmission site near the Nelson City Centre.

The current wind direction may spread the fire towards Kaka Hill.  Power may be cut to the site, and the area is currently being evacuated by Emergency Services.

Transmission may be interrupted to TV viewers in and around the Nelson CBD.

The larger digital TV site at Mt Campbell, which covers the wider Nelson area, is currently not under threat.
