Alkris ALK-FTA3 Changes viewing chanel to whatever is set to record... most frustrating.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem or have I spent $130approx on a pile of @#$%!?
I have tried resetting channels and now my closest TV1 channel is freeview No 14.
1,2,3,4 and a pile of others are all TV3. I can see how to fix this either. Can you see why I'd rather go back to analog and being able to watch one channel while recording another!!!
I bought it off the local Sky man when I moved here 3mths ago and if it hadnt cost so much I'd take a hammer to it and make do with DVDs.
Am I going to have to go spend another $400+ to buy a freeview box that will behave itself?

Your Alkris ALK-FTA3 is probably a single tuner PVR (recorder)
What this means is that you can only record programs in the same Channel Group see here
e.g If you set your timer to record Prime at 5.30pm , you wont be able to watch any other channel while its recording because its the only Channel in that group.
If you are recording Tv1 at 5.30pm you can watch TV1 / TV2 Maori /TV1 plus 1 / Tv2 plus 1 because they are in the same group.

The reason you have multiple (Tv3/Tv1/Tv2/Prime) is because of regional versions of those channels.The regional channels have different adverts for Auckland / Wellington / Christchurch, you will also be picking up Skys Free versions of TV2 / TV3.
You may also be scanning multiple Satellites at once which would cause you to have potentially 50 + channels.
