I have recently ditched my Sky TV along with the My Sky box so I cannot record any more. To get around the recording I have purchased a Seagate 4Tb external USB hard drive to record to.
When I try to format the drive from the PVR option, Media format, I get a message that Format cancelled. I am guessing that the Dish TV box is not recognising the Seagate drive.
Can anyone give me any clues as to what is happening?

Hi Phil
Larger TB Hard Drives may cause issues with set top boxes because the USB does not produce enough power to the hard drive, The formatting is cancelled because this avoids the risk of damaging the connected drive.
I would recommend a 1TB or 2TB drive for this operation

Josh hi thanks for getting back
The Dish TV specs call for a self powered hard drive which the Seagate is so I would have thought not a problem
Hi Phil
I suggest contacting Dishtv directly , I think the problem is related to the size of the external drive . 1o 2 TB drive is more likely to work . There are limitations of the Fat32 File system ..
