Hi,
I am helping a friend get her freeview set up, without much luck I'm afraid. I hope someone will be able to help. Here's what's happening etc
She just moved house, the previous tenant had sky. We can only get satellite freeview here
TV is a Samsung UA32EH4000, freeview box is a S7070r, sticker on the dish says Ku-LNBF, BS1D1AQ412A, LO j 10.75GHZ and a serial number
The freeview box works fine at my place
We have tried blind scan and satellite scans, it says tuning failed. I have looked at other discussions on this forum and have tried various things like changing LNB setting on Optus D1 to 10750, and done a factory reset. I did see somewhere about changing search type to FTA, but couldn't find where to do this.
One thing we have noticed is that the LNB looks different to others we can see. It has 2 cables coming out of it, one black which goes into the house; the other is white and has been cut, we assume this is the sky cable
Any help would be most appreciated
Thanks, Sue

Hi Sue and thanks for helping your friend,
That is odd that the White Cable was cut, could you swap the cables around so that the black one goes into where the white one was and try making a scan, the factory default scan will pick up the LNB freq and FTA channels automatically.
Let me know if this works,
Kind Regards

Hi, Thanks for your reply. We did think of doing that, but when we tried to do it, we couldn't figure out how to actually change them over. They appear to be kind of crimped in somehow. Should they pull out? or unscrew?
Sue
Where the cables come out there is a oval type covering, you should be able to pull that out which will give you access to the cables, simple screw them (Twist) them out, you can use tools to do this, the SKY installer would be tightened them. A wrench will do the trick
Ok thanks, we'll have another look at that and let you know
All fixed now, thanks. We changed the cables over but that didn't make any difference. We found a splitter box in the line, so removed that and joined cable to cable and that fixed it. Thanks heaps for your help :-)
No worries, glad you managed to find the issue!
Enjoy!
