Hi is anyone having problems with their j c matthews freeview terrestial box. Mine recently has started playing up with a lot of pauses and pixealation on recorded programmes. very slow to load the EPG, very slow to answer to other remote commands like mute, channel change , display recorded programs. delete viewed programmes. This seems to have started about a year ago and is slowly getting worse. I have tried rebooting the whole system from scratch and reloading all the channels.  my frustration is growing by the day. If someone can help i would be VERY appreciative. I have searched the internet and their is a blog that seems to say that there has been a change to the freeview digital instructions that are sent  to the freeview boxes. The agent i bought the JCM box from is no longer in parnell where i bought the box from. HELP !!!

If you unplug the aerial does it quicken remote response time?

no it still pixelates when i play a pre recorded program.the remote FF, pause, rewind etc are still very slow and very temeramental.  I have tried almost everything, Someone suggested it would go better if I disconnected the aerial as it goes away to  get updated EPG info while it is playing. i understabd the on board memery is only able to " process" 700 bits and the current EPG info is 1400 bits. whatever that means. Thanks.

Hi there - I have had (am having) the same issues as you have had.  It is VERY frustrating and it is definately getting worse!  If you find a solution can you please let me know?

Hi Heather I have sent a request to the Consumer magazine and to Fair Go tv program. As yet i have not had a reply to either query. Thanks for the reminder i will get back onto them and i will post a reply . It is very frustrating . I bought a new freeview box for the bedroom as i thought it was the JCM box that was the problem only to find out via this site that there has been a change of digital info sent down the signal from the freeview site. JCM was a recommended freeview box but it has been removed when I went to have a look recently.

is the new freeview box behaving?

yes it wasnt a JCM !!! it has PVR recording feature where i use a USB memory stick if i need to record programs on it. Generally only use it as a recoding backup in case the main JCM packs a wobbly.

Hi All a small update. I had heard nothing from fairgo about my / our problems so went onto their facebook page straight after the FG program to night. Had a reply from FG saying tyhey would look at the problem we are all having with JCM freeview top boxes and zinwell FV boxes. Hopefully something will come from this request.

ps I visited the address in penrose that is mentioned on the JCM web site.  726a great south road, it is a computer / tv repair place and I was told they only fixed actual faults in JCM boxes.. They considered that the "FAULT "we have is not a real fault as the boxes would still work OK if the digital info broadcast was the same as originally.

regards B

Thank you for the update Bernard.

constant stoning wears away the drip. or is it constant dripping wears away the stone. when or if i hear from fairgo and or consumer and or media works I will let everyone know. keeping fingers crossed..B

Thanks for this information Bernard , best wishes for the investigation.
