Is it officially available on Freeview or is it a non certified channel like how Prime+1 was before it was officially available on satellite.

The channel can be found by scanning your receiver. It is free-to-air on Optus D1 which I understand means it is Freeview. Surprising Freeview.nz haven't publicised this. Having the respected news channel Al Jazeera FTA on the satellite after years locked up on Sky  is worth shouting about. It has been on freeview.nz's terrestrial service for a very long time.

Yeah it is surprising that Freeview hasn't made any announcements about AJ joining satellite. Is anyone on here from Freeview able to comment? Thanks Greg for the heads up about this, appreciate it.

As of 12 April 2023 AL Jazeera is officially averable on channel 20 freeview satellite
