In Kapiti we have had two 'outages' of freeview in the last three weeks. We lost access following the recent storm (about 3 hours) and for over an hour after the earthquake last week. As the tv is a source of information, we were able to use the analogue transmission, but come September, this will no longer be an option. I don't know where our transmission comes from, ( we use the arial option, not satellite ). The website said that there were no outages!!

Thoughts??

It appears both were electricity related at the Ngarara transmitter site at Waikanae  .  3 FM stations were also off at the same time .

That's interesting as there we no reported power outages reported in Kapiti. However, you may well be right. What your answer doesn't provide is any certainty that an uninterruptible power supply will be put in place along with a generator. Maybe it will happen at some stage. Thanks for your response.

Tony

Ngarara seems to have had more than its share of power cuts over the years .

It seems there are lots of trees near the 11kv supply on that road .

I'm not aware of any plans to install backup power .  The Rock ,  Edge and Radio Live suffer

the same outages as Freeview DVBT

Maybe someone from Kordia would like to comment on lack of standby power ??

Steve

It would be good to hear from somebody as I'm sure there will be more issues in the future.

I asked Electra why they don't update their web site with Outages . A recent local outage went unreported on their site .  No response as yet .
