We have a a Free view aerial, a SKY satellite, a Freeview Samsung TV in the lounge with a SKY box and a Freeview Panasonic recorder.
There is a Freeview Samsung TV in the bedroom with a SKY outlet (receives the same as the lounge) and a Freeview Panasonic recorder.
We can record SKY TV and Freeview in the lounge.
We can watch SKY TV and Freeview TV in the bedroom but only record Freeview TV.
Does anyone have a solution

I have an Igloo box and I found that I could not record with my DVD-R but I found my VCR was able to do the job with the Sky Channels
From memory Igloo boxes provide content protection on some channels and trigger the NO Record possible command on recorders . I have found some models that appear to ignore it !!
We don't have an igloo box, just the standard sky box and a DVD recorder-but I don't understand why we can record SKY in the lounge but not the bedroom, we can watch SKY in the bedroom!
For recording Sky in Bedroom you will need either a myski box , OR a vcr recording from a standard sky box via the AV leads , or a Hard Drive recorder via AV leads .
I have seen some record the RF out from a standard sky box via the RF loop and analogue tuner but its not that nice . No a My Freeview box wont record sky !! Its a different format !
We have a Hard drive recorder Panasonic- DM rxw-390. The TV is a Samsung free view ready, the SKY is from an additional outlet from the main SKY box in the lounge.
We have Samsung SMART TV and the same model of DVD recorder in the lounge where the SKY box is.
Are we missing something?-before the changeover we could record normal channels and SKY. Now we can't record SKY and you can't choose the speed at which you record Freeview so it takes up more of the hard drive! Also I don't think you can transfer recorded Freeview content to disc for watching later or on another machine-we feel as though the digital switch has cost us more and given us less!
Sky have done this so they can make more out of you by getting you to buy a my-sky box as I said about the igloo box it was an example to show they have a lock on the recording of their programmes to make you purchase more of their products

Hi Sue,
I assume that you will have an A/V lead (red, white, yellow plugs) or component lead (red, blue, green, red, white plugs) going from the Sky receiver to the DVD recorder in the lounge. So, when you want to record Sky, you put the DVD on "L1" or something like that.
The Sky you are watching in the bedroom will probably be coming from the "RF" output of the Sky receiver, not the A/V, like in the lounge. Now, you can record Sky using the "RF" output signal onto standard VCRs, DVDs, etc, but the question you need answered (and I don't know it, not being familiar with your model Panasonic) is - Can you record an incoming RF terrestrial signal (the Sky signal) on your Panasonic?
I'm sure there will be someone reading this forum who can answer that question for you. Cheers, Bill.
Hi Bill
Yes from what I have seen , apart from a true Multiroom with two or more sky boxes ,
there is often a single coax coming to the 2nd room fed from either an external modulator on a mysky
box or the RF out of the internal modulator on a standard Pace Motorola or Zenith .Often on CH38 which now is dangerously close to Freeview UHF , Esp if the outside antenna is mixed in as well , fed via the LOOP RF in on the skybox . I have not seen many TRUE av leads , either composite, svhs or component running between rooms. I have struck several RF video senders on 2.4 ghz !!
In simple words please!, how can I fix my problem -ie record Sky in the bedroom?"
By the number of threads I would say probably time to call in a tech to sort out the mess !!!
