I keep getting the no signal message on my Freeview.   And for a change is saying "Audio Video Not Available.

I have a Dick Smith box.  And a roof top satellite dish. This problem started about 10 days ago.  Although sometimes it does work, no guarantees when.

I have unplugged the box and tried rebooting it.  But still not working.

Hi Sue S,

The message "Audio Video not available" is most likely being generated by your TV. What it's "saying" is that you've got the TV on (for instance), AV1 or HDMI2 but there's no signal coming into the TV from that particular socket!

So check that the TV is on the same "Input Socket" that your Dick Smith receiver is connected into. If it is, make sure the cable is plugged firmly into the sockets on the receiver and the TV.

If you're still having problems, fit a new cable between the receiver and TV. If still having problems, it sounds like the "output signal" from your Dick Smith box is faulty.

Cheers,    Bill.

Hi Sue

If you have a DSE G7500, try a restore to defaults - Instructions can be found here.   Don't do this while you have a no signal message - wait until it is working and you have normal reception of channels.

If the above doesn't help some further information can be found here

Regards

Graham

The freeview started working again a couple of hours ago.  It does not normally come up with the Audio Video signal notice, am wondering if that was weather related as it was pretty stormy.  But been having signal problems for days.

It could have been an LNB fault in the dish. The old oval shaped ones that Sky installed go off frequency as they get old. This causes the decoder to show no signal. Temperature often affects the performance of these. If it fails again, it might be time to get a new one.

Hi Sue,

If you are still experiencing intermittent No Signal after a restore to defaults, my second link above has instructions on how to adjust the LNB frequency, where the LNB frequency has drifted through old age.   But try a restore to defaults first.

I strike that often on jobs   there is often an existing sky dish with either an old 11300 Sharp single or Dual D1 / C1D3  single coax output . Sat Meter set to a narrow syb rate channel   such as the Ch7 Aus Colour bars on vertical with spot the freq error easily . You can tweak them if you take the covers off and adjust the osc screw . But prob better to fit a new quad or back to a single throat ,  if you have some of the old holders !!   Yes they have been known to fail in extreme temp !!
