Dear Sir/Madam

I hope you have started a good week.

I have just moved in to WLG and because I am tenant, I am looking to find an easy ,and cheap way to watch the NZ TV. I have bought  recently a DVB-T USB (it connects to my laptop, I have attached its specification and its photo) for our home but I found out that there is no UHF coverage in that area (I checked your site). I have a satellite antenna as it is shown in the attached photo in my home.

I am looking to find an easy way to watch TV without buying a TV set. I was wondering if you could give me any suggestion How I can do that.

Any help is appreciated.

Sincerely

Mohsen

Hi Mohsen,

Like me, you live in an area of Wellington that has no UHF Freeview coverage so your DVB-T USB device is sadly going to be of no use to you to receive TV on your laptop.

There is certainly no NZ Freeview approved DVB-S USB device on the NZ market that will connect to a satellite dish.

You could purchase something like this:USB DVB-S2 TV Box

Unlike your existing  DVB-T USB dongle, this is an external box with a mains power supply (This is needed as the unit also has to supply power to the LNB on the satellite dish.) and cables into the PC via USB.

I have never used this particular device so I cannot recommend it, but something like this is certainly what you will need to purchase if you want NZ Freeview on your laptop. You may find cheaper units if you search around the internet some more.

Good luck

Alan
