Have you tried resetting the device? a reset may clear any issues with the guide and starts the device as fresh, alternatively you can switch the unit off and on and try again.

I reset the Homecast to Factory Settings and seems to be all ok except that some programs will not allow me to set 'Record' and are showing an error reading "Code-2 error' - Any ideas re this?
