Getting freeview on old sky dish

Hello

I was wondering if anybody could possibly help me with some trouble I'm having getting freeview at my father's home

He has had sky since it basically came out in nz and had a dish installed probably in the late 90s maybe early 2000s when sky digital launched, in that time he has had 2 skyboxes in separate rooms

Recently he dropped down to 1 skybox to save money after I suggested he could just watch freeview in the bedroom and sky in the lounge, however neither a freeview box or the TV which is a recent model samsung can get a signal yet the skybox can

The dish has what looks like a dual lnb on it, my question is does anybody know if older model lnbs sky used 20 years ago are somehow not compatible with getting freeview?

I thought about replacing the lnb, but I read online that you shouldn't just use any lnb with any dish so decided to seek the advice of experts and came to this forum

Any help would be appreciated

You possibly just need to change the frequency for the LNB. Make sure it's the same as the Sky box

Hi cliff

After further tinkering with the satelite I was able to pick up freeview channels by scanning but couldn't get a picture so I have come to the conclusion that the dish is getting a weak signal (around 20%) and I need to adjust the lnb as I noticed it was quite loose in its holder after the holder has deteriorated somewhat

I have a friend with a satfinder tool or something that he is going to come use to help me get a stronger signal
