INDOOR AERIALS

WHY BRAVE THE ELEMENTS?

While indoor aerials can in some cases pick up digital TV signal, especially when you're within the 5km to 25km range and have line of sight to your nearest transmission site where signal is strong, there's no guarantee that indoor aerials will work reliably to receive digital TV signals.

This is why the recommended option is always an outdoor or rooftop UHF aerial.

When broadcasters or transmission providers make changes to or upgrade the broadcast or transmission of certain channels, the indoor aerial has been found to be unreliable in adapting to these changes, whereas the recommended outdoor UHF aerials can cope without any issues if set up correctly.

IF YOU LOST CHANNELS WITH AN INDOOR AERIAL, TRY:

  • moving the indoor aerial as near the window as possible.
  • point it at your nearest transmission tower (you should be able to see it - check its general direction using the coverage maps here).
  • establish a direct line of sight from the aerial to the transmission tower.
  • reconnect the indoor aerial to your device.
  • retune.

You may need to repeat the above several times and if you still do not receive a reliable reception for all channels, try some of the other troubleshooting tips.
