DTT

Digital Terrestrial Transmission.  DTT is used to broadcast programmes using land-based transmission towers.  This is the method used by broadcasters with Freeview|HD channels.

DTH

Direct To Home transmission.  DTH is used to broadcast programmes using satellite transmission.  This is the method used by broadcasters with Freeview Satellite channels.

PVR

Personal Video Recorder.  Generic name for digital recorders (which replaces the analogue VCR or DVD recorders) and can be used to record digital TV programmes.  PVRs that do not have in-built hard-drives will require a USB drive to be connected in order to record.

STB

Set Top Boxes.  Generic name for digital receivers (so called because sometimes homeowners sit then on top of traditional CRT television sets).

CRT

Cathode Ray Tube / Television.  The traditional television set.
