We have a DishTV satellite decoder/recorder S8200. Lately we have noted problems in using it to access Freeview On Demand. The remote has an APPS button which displays a screen with an On Demand link. The APPS button works only erratically. We also have a green button on the remote which used to give us a connection to On Demand. Nowadays it never connects to On Demand.
The APPS button access is problematic in that, while it allows navigation through the On Demand content, it doesn't allow fast forwarding or rewinding during a programme. The marker showing time progress moves during the fast forwarding or rewinding operation but, when the play button is hit to resume viewing, the programme resumes at the former position ie not forwards or backwards. Further the programme viewed is not listed in the "recently watched" section. These issues never arose when we were watching via the green button connection. Fast forwarding, rewinding and adding to recently watched content worked fine (although, as noted, we can no longer connect via the green button).
A solution to these problems would be very welcome.

I would check to see if the decoder is updated to the latest version, usually new firmware will be able to resolve issues like this, You can get the latest software from the DISH TV website here: https://support.dishtv.co.nz/support/solutions/articles/47000556398...
If you are still experiencing issues, it might be best to contact them directly to look at some troubleshooting steps for the S8200 model

Thanks for your tip.
I downloaded the latest firmware onto a USB stick, ran it, and tried connecting to On Demand once the installation was completed. However, there is no change and I'll follow up with DishTV.

Anyone reading about my problem, I have some further info...
I contacted DishTV who recommended cutting power to our WiFi modem and the decoder, waiting for a few minutes and reconnecting. That produced no change. However their second suggestion was to do a factory reset - Menu > Installation > Factory Reset (Default PIN 0000) - worked perfectly and the green button on the decoder remote connects quite quickly to Freeview On Demand. The APPS button still leads to viewing problems within On Demand (no solution to that) but, with the green button working again, who cares?
PS The reset wiped all our Freeview bookings although the existing recordings were unaffected.
