Is this a new HDD? Or is this an old unit?

If it is an old HDD I would suspect disk failure - If it is new take it back to the shop for a replacement.

Might be the HDD (Hard Drive) if still in warranty, return it to the supplier.

Thanks guys. It's an old unit unfortunately. Damn I have lost my recorded programs.

You could take it to a data recovery specialist to have a look at the hard drive.
