Hi all - we have the Dish TV T1050PVR and found that the remote control needed to be pointed exactly at the recorder to work.  It has a very narrow angle.  I was used to using the Mysky decoder which had a much larger range!  Anyway we have resolved this by buying an Infrared extender kit from Jaycar Electronics - this is what we bought.

It means that now our remote control works when just generally pointing in the direction of the recorder and makes TV watching/recording MUCH easier.  No problem if you don't have an issue but just thought I'd let people know in case they have the same problem.

Thanks for sharing about this Lynda, looks pretty easy and simple to set up, im sure this will help with those who are having issues with IR connectivity! :-)

It is easy - takes only a couple of minutes.  The device that receives the signal is tiny and can be hidden easily.  I didn't realise how limited the remote was until we installed this!

I've personally never had experience using IR Extenders but I suspect it would be good in a large lounge where you have the equipment in a separate room or sharing the same device in multiple rooms :-)

We have our recorder in a glass fronted unit and the remote simply would not work well - You had to direct it perfectly at it to work and when you consider sitting back on a couch, fast forwarding through programs etc it simply would not work!  This has solved the problem for us :)  We never had this problem though when we had our Mysky recorder.
