Recording Multiple Program's

I have recently installed a Panasonic Freeview recorder. What I want to understand is why when recording a series, the + channels (1 hour behind) show as series linked as well. If I delete 1 then the other also deletes BUT it seems to affect the number of program's that can be recorded at once. If I want to record a second program at the same time as a series linked program, the message says that there are too many being recorded at the same time and therefore will not allow it.

Seems to be an annoying foible with Panasonic recorders. If you get conflicts just use Timer Record instead. That's what I do.

There have been a lot of questions regarding the Panasonic recorders, Biggles has recommended "Timer Recording" to resolve conflicts,

I will however talk to the technical team to see if the issue can be resolved/widespread.

Thanks for that. However I think it's more of a Freeview EPG data problem rather than a Panasonic one. If Freeview EPG had separate series linking for the same program data on the main channel and the +1 channel the situation wouldn't arise. At the moment because of the way the Panasonic processes the data it causes conflict which really shouldn't exist. Timer record will resolve the problem but fixing the EPG data would be a better solution. IMO the +1 channels are a complete waste of time anyway as they are SD and Stereo sound. Really annoys me when on the odd occasion I've set EPG record a little late (within 1 min of show start time) and it records an HD 5.1 sound show from the +1 channel later on in SD and Stereo instead.

are the latest panasonic recorders any better than the 370?

had some experience with the 370 and some irritaions are

1/ wont do hdd to usb

2/anything booked for record wont be acted on if your watching via the a/v input

3/ everything recorded via av is dated jan 1

4/wouldnt connect to the net regardless of crossover or straight cable

read the book "only has partial browser & only good for a few websites"

so what recorder do you get as it seems most have hidden problems?

I dont have any experience of the 370 but I don't understand why your 370 does this.

My BWT720 will record to USB HDD although the HDD must be registered to the unit and can't be used to play on other devices. I never use it as I can easily transfer recorded files to my PC and play back files via my Media Player which is designed for that purpose.

Watching via a/v shouldn't have any effect on booked recordings. Just having the physical connection can have no effect on booked recordings via the tuners. Only thing mine won't do is record from a/v input while watching Blu Ray disc presumably due to insufficient processing power. Why would you want to watch via a/v anyway? My Sky decoder is connected to a/v input for recording only but also connected to TV by component for watching via TV with a better quality picture.

Everything recorded via a/v being dated Jan 1 indicates there is a fault with your unit somewhere. Shouldn't be possible.

DVD/Blu Ray recorders are designed to record and playback TV programs, not to browse the Net. The manual is correct. They are basically useless for this as are most smart TVs. That's what a PC or laptop is designed to do. Mine will browse but it's really slow and useless just like my Sony TV.
