Rescan on Dish TV S7090pvr

There are two ways to update your S7090pvr: with a Firmware Update or through a Manual Update.

Before you begin, please make a note of the top programmes you've set to record because you'll need to re-book your series link recordings after the update.

FIRMWARE UPDATE

DISH TV will be releasing a firmware update v 1.70 which will be broadcast over the air to each S7090pvr.  Once installed, this firmware update will enable the S7090pvr to automatically tune to the new feeds.

You can also download the firmware update here onto a USB drive and install it any time.

Once downloaded, unzip the file and follow the instructions PDF to complete the USB firmware update.

MANUAL UPDATE

The following instructions are supplied by the manufacturer and extracted from the Dish TV website.

With channels being transmitted on a new Sky transponder, the S7090pvr may need an update to tune to the new transponder.

1.    Press the menu button on the remote to bring up the main menu

2.    Select Installation and Press Ok

3.    Select Factory Default and Press Ok

4.    Enter the pin code for the receiver (The default is 0000)

5.    Select Yes and press OK

After the factory reset process has completed you will be prompted to select your region and press ok.

Once the scan process has completed you should have access to all channels again. In some cases this process will not correctly add PRIME, BRAVO plus 1 & THE EDGE TV, you will need to then manually enter the Transponder details for PRIME, BRAVO plus 1 & THE EDGE TV.

The steps to do this are as follows

1.    Press the Menu button to bring up the main menu

2.    Select Installation and press OK

3.    Select Tuning Wizard and press OK

4.    Enter the PIN code for the unit (the default is 0000)

5.    Select Satellite Scan and press OK

6.    Press the left arrow to access the carrier list

7.    Press the Yellow button to access the Setup menu

8.    Select Add Carrier and press OK

9.    Enter 12519 for the Frequency

10.  Select Symbol rate and enter 22500

11.  Check that Polarity is set to Horizontal

12.  Check that network scan is set to Off

13.  Press OK to start the Scan process

The scan process will take approximately 1 minute to complete.

Once the scan process is completed you will be returned to the Satellite Scan menu.

Press Exit to return to watching normal TV.

Fiona try upgrading firmware this way.

Make sure that your usb drive is  plugged in first.

Menu >Installation > S/W Upgrade via USB

Default password is (0000) if asked.

Fiona, I would give the DishTV support line a call, or send them an email.
They should be able to help.

Us bus FAT32 format
Comment by Paul on June 4, 2016 at 16:16

Note :-  formatting the drive to Fat 32 will erase all files already on the USB Drive.

Fiona, it sounds like your USB stick may not be formatted as FAT32.

Plug it into you PC. Go to 'My Computer' Or 'This PC' (depending on your windows version) and right click on the icon for your USB drive and click 'Properties' from the drop down menu. The Properties window will tell you the File System. Should be FAT32! If not, reformat choosing FAT32 from the Format window and then reload the DishTV firmware and try again.

Hi Folks,

Finally seemed to solve it, all channels now displaying correctly and able to set up all recording correctly. Factory reset for 5th time, at long last.  Had to waste a lot of time to get to this stage.

Cheers

Hi Guys, there is expected to be an OTA software release for this unit, Dish TV hasn't confirmed when this will happen but it should be sometime in the next few days

Josh

Just done my mothers receiver. Easiest way is just download the new firmware update copy to usb stick and install. All fine no mucking around or retuning channel all lined up in order with the "TEST 1, 2 ,3,4,5 appearing all down at the bottom of the channel list with channel number 1000 and onwards

Michael,

I reckon you need to get that Firmware to install as that will more than likely fix your satellite scanning problem.

You don't say if the S7090 displayed any messages as to why the firmware did not load but here are a couple of things to try.

Make sure that your USB drive is formatted as FAT32. This is typically NOT the default formatting option when formatting the drive on a PC or Mac.

If you are trying to install the firmware by powering on the unit, while holding down the MENU button, make sure you are turning the unit off at the wall (Or unplugging the power connection on the back.) and then reconnecting the power while holding down the MENU button on the front panel.

Alternatively (If your current firmware supports this. Can't remember if it does or not.) there will be a 'S/W Upgrade via USB' option on the 'Installation' menu that you can try.

If none of this works, give the DishTV guys a call on Monday and give them as much information as possible.

Good luck.  Alan

I have downloaded the 1.8 firmware onto a USB and went through the download twice without success. Currently my hardware version is 2.1 software A3U_11_016A. Loader version LDR_DISHTV_HW21_SW24.
Strange thing is that prime etc have already shifted channels to 14 and the old channel 10 now shows as a test channel.
Any advice anyone?

Michael,

I will put my DishTV technical hat on (No, I don't work for them) and say, make sure that your machine is at the current firmware level (1.6f). If not, download it from dishtv.co.nz and apply it.

I just tried the factory reset on my machine and it worked a treat.

FYI. The factory reset removes all future scheduled bookings so you will need to re book them.

Also the Satellite Scan takes longer than 1 minute, as detailed in the instructions, probably more like 5.

Hi Alan, please email support@dishtv.co.nz - their support team would love to hear from you to work out why you got that false start!

Comment by Bel @ Freeview on May 25, 2016 at 17:06

Thanks Alan :) probably a glitch in the machine?  Passed onto Dish TV support so they're aware.  Good to know it worked like it should though in the end there.

I thought I would add my experience on my S7090.

Today the following message was displayed:- Some Frequencies are added in the Transmission. Press OK to upload now. Press EXIT to update later.

I pressed OK to let the unit do its thing. The Satellite Scan screen was displayed, but no scanning was happening. Both the Strength and Quality bars where showing NO signal. The processing indicator was rotating but after 10 minutes there was no change to the screen.

I pressed BACK to exit out back to live TV. Within seconds the message about added frequencies was displayed again. I pressed OK again and this time everything worked. I had lots of Strength and Quality and all the channels, including the new test channels, were found OK.  Yeah!

Probably a bug (NO! Not another one.) in the machines firmware.

Motto: Try try again.

On a different note. Why is TRACKSIDE still in my channel list?? It should have been removed ages ago. Very slack.

Alan
