Here's a firmware for the MTV3600TD customers who wish to rename the programme names garbage.  In addition, it includes a final attempt at fixing the reboot at wakeup issue. A Customer has been testing this firmware over the weekend and has not seen the crash yet.

Magic TV MTV3600TD Firmware 6.08 beta:
http://www.magictv.com/nz/downloads/mtv3600_6_08NZbeta.zip

This is the MTV3700TD firmware 6.07 beta 6 back ported to MTV3600TD, so it has:

- Add iPhone/iPad/Android remote control app support (the MTV3600TD needs to be connected to the WiFi router as the mobile device does; if the WiFi router has a feature to "separate" a WiFi device from other devices it needs to be turned off)
- Add rename function for recorded programmes
- Add audio delay setting
- Add built-in volume adjustment (Settings -> Audio -> Volume; can also be controlled via remote control if the volume buttons have not been programmed)
- Add graphic prompt for radio channels
- Add favourite channels
- Add support for XBox 360 and MCE remote control (needs to be enabled by using Magic TV remote or the remote app first)
- An experimental change for the wakeup reboot issue

In case there is a serious issue with the 6.x firmware, please downgrade to firmware 3.20.

have installed 6.08beta2 and so far seem really good no known issues will keep testing and see how goes will keep u informed on this post
6.08beta2 is working perfect im very happy :)

Thanks for feedback :)

I've been running 6.08B2 for 5 days now and will revert back to 3.18 tomorrow.  The FF/FR does show up to 32X but the reality is somewhat less.  It is really only about 1/3 of the speed shown.  I could live with that, but the system is slow to respond to any command when it is recording a program.  I did a system reset when I upgraded to 6.02B2, went through the Guide again to reset all of the programs to record, reset all of my required recording settings and I did a restart after a couple of days.  It is still very sleepy and tired.  I cannot comment on any of the new features as I don't see any benefit in them for me.  I was interested in the ability to set the volume, but this would only be any use if it could be preset by channel.  I did not have the reboot on wake up problem until I tried 3.20, do not have it on 6.08B2 but the image does fluff around a lot with blue screen and lost signal for 10 seconds until it settles down.  I have no idea which version I should use if program names start disappearing again.

3.20, 3.21 and 6.08 beta / beta2 fixed the recorded programme name issue .

ive noticed with 6.08b2 that sometimes when turn unit off the hard drive is still running and doesnt seem to stop i did a restart from menu and now ok but never had this prob before and your right fast forwarding is slower and slow to respond while recording apart from those things i like this 6.08b2 firmware

The hard disk in a rellie's MTV3600TD was doing this and has since apparently carked out totally.

Does anyone have specs for a replacement?

i.e. Is it a standard 2.5" HD that can be formatted once installed into the MTV3600TD? Thanks.

It is a standard 3.5" SATA but no larger than 2TB.

You may use any of the firmware in this thread to perform the format.

Thanks very much wklie for very prompt response - you are a scholar and a gentleman (assumption); looks like we may be able to revive their unit provided we can find a HD that isn't too picky about operating temperature.

Is it just an impression, or is this make or model more troublesome/unstable than other similar boxes?
Not that it could be more horrid than the Transonic we had - a 1980's interface and 2 years of weird self resets and intermittent faults.

Cheers.

I wouldn't worry too much about finding a HDD by its operating temperature.  Choose a brand you like (there aren't many choices anyway).

MTV3600TD was a 2009 product, but digital TV technologies continually evolve.
