I cant record on my usb powered harddrive anymore. I have rung dish tv about this and they have told me it because of the last update it took power from the usb leaving it not powerful enough to run the hard drive. well the last update was months ago and this is a new problem so go figure. I bought my dish tv recorder so I could record. I feel let down and ripped off as the product does not do as stated so am entitled to a full refund as consumer law says its not fit for purpose.  It would be good if dish tv would just fix the problem so I can record again and watch the movies I have in storage. never had these problems with good old analog and a vcr ...

If not may have scorched internal usb chip

The usb chip in sat box
Price some 32&64gB usb drives on trademe or the warehouse in the meantime
Programmes are often 1-1.6gb so 64gb should do about 40

Kara have you tried to use your old recording devices to record the programs that you want to view later ? , I have my 2 boxes set up with 3x 1 in 2 out rca plugs 1 leads to the tv and the other goes into the recorder those plugs are fitted to back of the box and you use the timer on the box for start and finish and do the same for your recorder and if you want to view another channel pick up cheap second hand box and use that to view what you want that is on at same time.

Also if you only have a single av in put in the back of you tv you can get a AV input box from Jaycar electrionics for around $60.00 , this can handle 4 devices going into the Tv

What sort of recorder?
Got 4 way av box on t ms for $ 25

Either your VCR or DVD Recorder just plug your set top box into the AV ports in the back of them and set the timer on both and away you go.

The AV Box that I got from Jaycar came with a remote so you don't have to get up and switch it over and it also has the S-Video ports for your DVD player

 Hi Guys
