can I use my UHF HARD DRIVE through a satellite box (I am semi rural and only have Satellite.

Hiya, I need some advice regarding how to connect components. Im semi rural and have a hardrive with a built in freeview, the trouble is its UHF. I have a satellite decoder, can the decoder be hooked up to the satellite aerial in such a way where I can use my UHF hardrive? Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks

OK. I got a bit confused and thought the box with the 2 SCART sockets was the DVD but on looking closely again I see it is actually the Sat Box. Looks the same as my old Pace Sky Box. I think to do what you want to is fairly simple. You need a SCART to Component video cable (may be hard to find now) and use that to connect the SCART socket labelled TV on the Sat Box to the component inputs on the TV. Then connect the composite A/V out (yellow, red white) on the DVD to the composite A/V in on the TV.

Assuming the far left row are composite Inputs .

Hmm. Tricky setup. That looks like an older Analogue Panasonic like I used to have so it won't have Freeview built in. And the TV doesn't have HDMI input? Can't really remember how I had mine all connect as I had Sky in the mix as well.  For your setup I'd suggest Satbox Component plus Audio out direct to Component and Audio inputs on TV. Use the Composite Video and Audio out from Sat box to SCART input on DVD Recorder. You'll need two audio adapters (one RCA plug to two RA sockets to split the audio out from the Sat box. Then use a lead from SCART out on the DVD to Composite A/V in on the TV so you can watch DVDs. All rather complicated but will work. Alternative is to get a new TV like a Samsung or Panasonic with Freeview Sat and UHF Tuners. Don't forget that using component connections you still need to use the red and white leads to get audio. The RGB leads by themselves don't carry audio.

Hiya, thanks so much for your help. Im working on a different TV etc from my very fist post. Now Im working on the old lounge TV, this is the one that has no audio as discussed with you. What Im wanting to do is hook up the sat box to the TV, and also the DVD player. When I had it set up in the city (uhf aerial) I had it going through a different Panasonic recorder and a separate DVD player and freeview (uhf). Now that Im in the country I have to go through Satellite, its doing my head in, The first drawing is the back of the old TV (I have an old TV for the boarders). The next photo is a photo of the back of the TV, not very clear sorry. The next photo is the Panasonic device (this does NOT have to be part of the set up unless it has to be). Next photos are the back of the sat box. Gosh I hope this makes sense, I hugely appreciate your knowledge, thanks again..Leas

Make sure the Audio leads are plugged into the input sockets on the CRT TV and not the output sockets. Easy to confuse them. If they are in the correct socket then it would appear there's no sound out of the decoder. Can you post pictures of the connections?

The Panasonic will only be able to record one channel as there's only one external input. If you had a UHF antenna and were in a UHF reception area it would record 2 channels as it has twin tuners.

Hiya, yes I have a Panasonic Hard drive with a built in UHF Freeview,  Turns out yes I can but it will only tape one channel, ive since bought a satellite freeview dual tuner decoder. Thanks so much for your advise.

Depends on what you mean by "hardrive with a built in freeview". If as your profile suggests you mean you have a Panasonic UHF Recorder then yes it is possible to hook up the Composite Video and Audio outputs to the external Composite A/V inputs on the Panasonic recorder. Provided of course that your Sat decoder does have Composite A/V outputs and the Panasonic does have Composite A/V inputs. Not all Panasonic models, particularly the cheaper ones,  have these inputs. Your Panasonic Manual will tell you how to do this. You cannot hookup a UHF decoder to a sat dish though.
