Hi over the last week and a bit we have developed reception problems with tv1,2 (and the plus1's) and duke. While tryinf to watch these channels the picture pixalates freezes and cuts out constantly. This doesnt happen on other channels. We have an old s7070 dish tv sat box. We live in nelson. Does anybody have any idea on whats causing this and what we can do to fix it?

Most likely your LNB is failing.

Check your signal strength and quality in the setup menu. You will probably find the TVNZ MUX is weaker than the others. Losing TVNZ is often first indication of slow LNB failure. You may be able to improve strength by settiing the LNB freq 5mhz higher or lower in the Setup Menu. If this works then the LNB is definitely failing.  As the LNB ages it tends to drift off frequency particularly if it gets hot in the sun.

Hi while trying your suggestions I switched my freeview box off sadly it refused to back on have set up a different box on the tv with all channels working ok so the box was the problem maybe?

Guess it may be the box then if the other one works OK. I'd still check signal strength and quality though. Might be an idea to try it again after all power has been off for a while. Sometimes they come back to life after a cold re-boot. If not I'd take it back to the retailer make a claim under the CGA. The boxes should last 5 - 10 yrs without problems.
