Hi Joshua, we have a TV that we think is compatible with Freeviewplus, will it automatically update to the new software?

Hi cookingeating

Please provide your TV Model number and I can double check for you,

Usually the manufacturer will release some update to your TV  to enable the technology used to deliver FreeviewPlus.

Regards, Joshua

Thanks Joshua! Sony 4K 49X8500B - it's a 2014 model. We spoke to Sony and they said that Freeview Plus works in Australia on the same model and that it will work in New Zealand. Though it hasn't updated the software yet and isn't listed on the Freeview website :O

Hmmm you are right, It's not listed on the Freeview Website, If SONY says that this will work with FreeviewPlus then it should work come the next firmware update, Please keep your TV Connected to the internet and manually check for software updates.

There has been a back log of confusion on other forums however regular contact with SONY should help clarify as FreeviewPlus is rolled out to specific devices.

If there is any other help, please feel free to let me know :-)

Regards, Joshua

Awesome! Will keep an eye out for an update!

Thanks Joshua!

Hi, I was just wondering whether there are any FreeviewPlus PVRs with dual tuners + built-in hard drives? Looking at the approved devices on the freeview plus website, it doesn't currently look like it (there's only one set top box, and that's only a single tuner). Are any coming in the near future?

Thanks :)

Hi J

Yes there will be! Panasonic and Dish TV will launch MyFreeview Plus PVRs in the next month or two so keep your eyes peeled! :-)

I'll send a request to Dish TV to comment when they will be releasing theirs

Regards, Joshua

Hi J Allfrey

We will be launching the PVR next month August

Thanks, I'll look out for it! :)

Hi Joshua,
We have a Sony Bravia KDL-40W700C, we were told when we brought it, that's is freeviewplus compatable, and also says this on sonys web site, but is not listed on the freeview site. What do we need to do to get the freeview plus working as it currently does not?
Thanks
Tessa

We bought a sony tv last week that is freeview plus compatible (and its listed on the freeview site - KDL43W800C) and we also can't figure out what we need to do to get freeview plus working!

Hi Gemma

In order for FreeviewPlus to be activated with your compatible TV or set top box please check the following:

  • You will need to connect to the Internet and the UHF aerial, most 2015 FreeviewPlus TVs and devices have WiFi built in, please consult the iManual or manufacturer website if you are having issues on connecting to your internet modem

  • Your TV might be listed as compatible but is probably going to receive FreeviewPlus in the next month or two. Check for a software update to see if updating your TV/Product will get FreeviewPlus activated.

I hope this helps :-)

Regards,  Joshua
