I have a Panasonic TV with inbuilt freeview and I also have an HDD recorder that runs on analogue. Is it possible to connect these so that the recorder can now be used again through the freeview built into the TV?

Only if the TV has a MONITOR Output !! My Sony 40 does have that function . If not you will need to buy a set top box and use the output from that  !!

Basically No.

Very very few Freeview TVs have video out so it's virtually impossible to record Freeview on an old analogue DVD recorder.

You have two options.

1 Buy a FreeviewHD Recorder. Panasonic are really good and record HD.

2 Buy a cheap FreeviewHD STB and connect the composite A/V out to the input on your old analogue DVD Recorder (or VCR) which will then record in SD. Works very well and I did this for a couple of years before I bought a Freeview TV and Recorder. It had HDMI out to the TV and composite A/V to the recorder.
